Li Na donates $135,000 to Chinese Orphanage

Li Na donates $135,000 to Chinese Orphanage

Chinese world No.11 Li Na maybe hasn't won the WTA Humanitarian of the Year Award, which went to the hands of Maria Sharapova, but Li's humanitarian efforts in 2010 deserve utmost respect. Her latest good deed is a 900,000 Chinese yuan (approximately $135,000) donation to an orphanage in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province in China.

Remember that Li donated all her Madrid prize money, which was $57,500 for her quarterfinal showing, to earthquake relief efforts in Yushu County in northwest China. Then later in the year she visited the children of an orphanage in the city of Xining, the victims of the Yushu earthquake, and donated additional $59,000.

During the visit to Xining, Li promised to donate all her China Open prize money as well. She reached the semifinals and gave away $170,000.

Biography
Mary Pierce hits the ball as hard as or harder than any other female tennis player in the world. At the 1995 Australian Open she blew away Arantxa Sánchez Vicario to win her first ever Grand Slam tennis tournament. The victory may finally make people forget the story of Pierce and her father, who abused her while trying to make her a tennis champion. In 1993 Pierce broke away from her father and found happiness--both on the court and off--for the first time by just being herself.

Mary Caroline Pierce was born on January 15, 1975, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Her parents, Jim and Yannick, met in Montreal. Yannick was a French exchange student when she met Jim, a U.S. citizen. Because of her parent's nationalities, Pierce is both a U.S. and a French citizen. The family, including Pierce's younger brother, David, eventually moved to Hollywood, Florida, where Jim Pierce worked as a custom jeweler and jewelry salesman.

Top 5 Emotional Players iyers in Women's Tennis

Top 5 Emotional Players iyers in Women's Tennis

Tennis is a sport which is never short of drama. When the pressure is on, it gets pretty emotional out there and there are some players who "let it out of their system" a bit more than others. So, here is my chart of top 5 WTA drama queens. Let’s see if you agree with my choice .

1. Vera Zvonareva
Vera has got two enemies to fight on the court: her opponents and her emotions. Unfortunately, sometimes the emotions win. And when she loses control she loses it big time. Her on-court antics can really spice up the action: throwing and breaking rackets, crying, shouting at herself… it’s all there and sometimes not only that. It’s not hard to imagine how terrible she must feel after such a loss of self-control. To calm down Vera often hides her face under a towel during the changeovers.

2. Serena Williams
Serena considers the court to be her little kingdom and she likes to be treated like a queen. If officials do not play along they will bear the consequences. Her ugly outburst at 2009 US Open was a hot topic in tennis world for months and most probably will be one of the things she will remembered for after her career is over.

3. Jelena Jankovic
JJ is a different version of a drama queen. No thrown or broken rackets or tears. She likes to complain to authorities instead. If things go wrong her debates with umpires often become pretty heated and sometimes she ends up fighting a little war of words. JJ keeps officials on their toes, that’s for sure.

4. Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova
There is not a lot that people know about this player. However since her match in Paris Open she has started to make a name for herself because of her tantrums. "Let it out and you’ll play better" seems to be her personal motto and therefore after losing an important point she tends to shout at herself. If that doesn’t work her coach is next…

5. Ana Ivanovic
After her great victory at Roland Garros something went very wrong. Her mental strength and confidence started to disappear and on the court her emotions often got better of her. The consequences of that were quite dire. Her performance got worse, she started to fall down the rankings and some people in tennis world have lost confidence in her abilities. Fortunately for Ana, she picked herself up just in time. Anyway, sometimes it is easy to spot she still finds it hard to control her emotions when on the court.

Tennis, is a very interesting sport where you can see a lot of  women players. I have no idea what deuce or a tie-breaker is, but I still would watch a match when even one of the following Top 10  women Tennis Players plays. All of them are  smart and good in what they do – tennis!
Let’s check them out in more details. if You don’t agree with me on this list, and if I missed out any other  women tennis players, you let me know...
Martina Hingis
Martina Hingis is a former world number one Swiss tennis player. Known as the “Swiss Miss” and some regarded her as the Princess of WTA. She has won a lot of Grand Slam titles… don’t ask me which titles because I have no idea myself. Her effusive personality and cut physique have earned her the attention of a lot of fashion photographers.
Do you know how old was Martina Hingis when she won the junior French Open?
Daniela Hantuchova
She is a Slovak professional tennis player. As of March 19, 2007, Hantuchova ranks at No. 12 in singles.
Hantuchová has won two WTA singles tournaments in her career, the first in 2002 at the Tier I Pacific Life Open, defeating Martina Hingis, and in 2007 at the same tournament, defeating Svetlana Kuznetsova in the final, ending a 5-year titledrought.
Maria Sharapova
Six feet tall, muscular and blonde, Sharapova turned pro in 2001 at the young age of 14. In 2004 Sharapova stunned the tennis world by defeating defending champion Serena Williams in the singles finals at Wimbledon to win the tournament at age 17. Occasionally she took modelling jobs, earning sweet comparisons to Anna Kournikova! Sharapova is known to produce high decibel on tennis court.
Elena Dementieva

Anastasia Myskina
Myskina is from Russia, and is one of the better baseline players in the game today, as shown in her French Open title in 2004. Despite this she prefers faster court surfaces, although having all the hallmarks of a genuine clay court champion.

Nicole Vaidisova
Vaidisova is an emerging star in women’s tennis who has been playing since she was six-years-old. She is said to consider her serve as her biggest weapon. Vaidisova is currently ranked number 9 in the WTA rankings.

Tatiana Golovin
Atiana Golovin is a French professional tennis player. Her nickname on tour is Tati. She maybe one of the lesser know players but her win in the 2004 Roland Garros mixed doubles event with countryman Richard Gasquet was remarkable. She also reached the singles quarterfinal at the 2006 US Open, losing to eventual champion Maria Sharapova.

Ana Ivanovic
She is a Serbian professional tennis player who started tennis at the age of five after seeing the sport on TV. That turns out to be not a bad decision as she has more than US$1.3 million in her bank account now, thanks to tennis!
