Former Manchester United midfielder Liam Miller has declared himself fit for the start of Perth Glory's A-League season, but Adam Hughes appears increasingly unlikely to be ready in time for the campaign opener due to a mystery illness.
Hughes, who was taken to hospital after feeling ill during the club's 1-0 pre-season loss to Central Coast Mariners on September 18, is still in Sydney awaiting the results of blood tests.
Glory remain unsure whether the 29-year-old midfielder will be fit for the start of the A-League campaign against his former club Adelaide United in Perth on October 9.
But there are no such concerns for Miller, who has resumed full training despite being stretchered off with severe cramp in the late stages of Perth's 2-2 draw with Sydney FC last Saturday.

"It looked like I got shot by a sniper or something in the crowd but luckily enough it was just a bit of a cramp.
"I felt it five minutes before that. I was feeling a bit dehydrated.''
Miller said he was feeling primed after a long pre-season in which the Glory has taken on Scottish powerhouse Celtic, gone on a tour of South Africa, played the UAE under-23 team and also taken on a host of Western Australia state league sides.
"The more games I play the sharper I feel,'' Miller said.
"I'm more than ready for the first game of the season.
"With a lot of new players in the squad it's important that we bonded, and I feel we've done that really well over the course of the pre-season.''
